New Addition To The Family

Well, my husband couldn't wait until we come back from our trip to FL to get a new pet.

We both miss Princess so much and wanted another black Lab. Sooooo meet Daisy. She is only 10 weeks old . They think she is a Lab/Border Collie. I think she is mostly Lab. She's real sweet.

Princess was 12 weeks old when we got her and I didn't get to pick then either. He just went to the store and came home with her.

Saying goodbye to a trusted friend and companion of 13 years is truly a hard thing to do. We had to do that yesterday to our dear Lab, Princess. She will be missed so much, especially by my husband. She was his companion on walks in the woods, Jeep and truck rides, and travels near and far. We could never ask for a better dog.

Fall In The Mountains

I haven't had time to post lately as I have been busy getting ready for company, going to festivals, and visiting with our company.

The weather has been great and the leaves are turning. It is a wonderful time of year. I can understand why people want to visit up here at this time of year and see God's wonderful creation.

I thought some of you Mommies might enjoy making the "cookie pumpkin ". I don 't know if you can read the instructions or not, but you get the idea from the picture. You use a brownie mix and bake it on a pizza pan. You ice it with orange icing (if you can find it). I always had to buy white and color it with red and yellow food coloring. The kids love to decorate it.

Husband's Latest Project

This is my hubby's latest project. A desk and storage cabinets under the stairwell down stairs.

I now have a nice workspace and some more storage for linens, pillows, etc. Our daybed backs up against the cabinets, so I will store things in there that I don't use very often.

He did a really good job. I like being able to do some things on the computer when I am downstairs. It is very cozy down there.

We have a "visitor" at the Fry household. He is young, not very attractive, but well behaved for a youngster. He has been visiting for one week now and I don't think he wants to go home. He really likes it here. We really would like to find his family, but that doesn't seem like it is going to happen.

Husband's Handiwork

I haven't posted for awhile since I have been busy canning, picking blueberries, jam making, and more canning.

My husband has also been busy. Besides helping to pick blueberries, he has been building some furniture. He built a table to put our new TV on. It is his second attempt at building a piece of furniture. He made a lovely stand for our downstairs microwave shortly after we moved into this house. He went and bought wood today to start another project downstairs. He wants to enclose underneath the stairs; making cabinets, etc.

I want to post some pictures and I don't know how to title each one, so I will just say that you will see, out new TV and stand, the hutch with the microwave, and some of our many blueberries.

Tribute To My Mama

It is 5 years ago today that we laid my precious Mother to rest. I still miss her terribly and often wish I could pick up the phone and call her and hear her sweet voice. She lived to be 92 years old and still had a good mind and loving spirit. I think the thing she was most proud of was her family, and that they were all Christians. She truly loved the Lord.

She had such a wonderful attitude and never failed to tell you how much she loved you and appreciated you.

One of her other loves was football. Since she lived in Miami for many years, the Dolphins were her team. She often invited some of the young folks from Church over to her house to watch the ballgame with her. One of the pictures here was taken with Bro. Lonnie Johnson about a year before she died. He was a former NFL player before he decided to become a preacher.

The other picture is with 3 of our 4 children.

Love you Mom. Hope you are the first person I see when I get to heaven.

Blueberries From Heaven

This is the title of a little book that a very dear friend gave me. I think of it, and her, every time I am out picking blueberries. Boy, do we have the blueberries! They are so beautiful. I just love the colors; from pale green, to pink, to lavender, to purple.

We also have some of our sunflowers starting to bloom. I know the birds will enjoy them.

As you can see from the picture, we have a couple of nice clusters of grapes, but that is all we have. Maybe next year there will be more. They are still very young vines.

Last, but not least. How do you like our Pinocchio tomato? I just had to draw a face on this tomato with a nose!

Red Crossbill bird, dogs, & family

These are some pictures that our son, Steve took on the Fourth. We have several of the Red Crossbill birds coming to our feeder. They are really out of their territory. They belong way up North. They usually eat seeds from pinecones. Their beak is unusual as it is crossed.

Fourth of July Celebration

We had a wonderful Fourth of July with half of our family here. We also got to meet our grandaughter, Lacey's fiancee. I will try to add some pictures later from my desktop computer. I haven't figured out how to "share" folders.

My son, Steve got my desktop computer converted to wireless and now with my router I can use it for the internet as well as my laptop. It is downstairs, so that will be real handy when I am down there doing something. Like today, I was canning beans. Boy, we have the beans. They almost got ahead of us. We didn't think they were ready to pick and we were busy with company over the week-end. It was Wed before we checked and we had a lot ready to pick.

Lots of good food and good company made for a great Fourth. We had FIVE dogs in the house at one time down stairs. Boy, that was fun!

Thursdays Thoughts

My thoughts today are not only on my family and the celebration we have planned for tomorrow, but also on my country. As we celebrate this Independence Day, may we all be thankful for all of the blessings living in this country affords us. Yes, we complain about gas prices, the economy, the war, etc., but we have it so much better than most.

I do know that the values of our country are changing and it concerns me that God is not in a lot of people's lives. We must stay strong and continue to serve Him, or he will forsake this nation.

A special "thank you" to all of those who serve, and have served our great nation. We appreciate you and the sacrifice you and your family makes for us.

VBS

Here are a few pictures I took the second day of VBS. I wish I could have been there all week and helped. I really miss that up here in the mountains. Most of my pictures are similar to Stacia's, but I did get some of the "kitchen help", Jan and Sandy.

It's been awhile since I did a Thursday's Thoughts, so I thought I should try to write one today.

When tragedy strikes we sometimes want to blame God, but we know that is wrong. God is all knowing and has a reason for everything that happens. The Bible tells us that the rain falls on the just and the unjust, so sometimes bad things happen to good people. Tragedy in our lives can make us a stronger person and make us appreciate all of the blessings that we have.

My family has been so blessed and has not had to experience such a tragedy. We don't know why it happens in some families, but not in others. I just keep counting my blessings and thanking God every day for them and pray for Him to continue to watch all of our loved ones and keep them well and keep them safe.

Graduations

This has been a busy time for us with two grandchildren graduating and moving the last of our belongings from FL.

We had a great trip, going to Warner Robins, Ga to Raleigh, NC . It was a lot of fun and made us very proud of both Tyler and Sally.

We appreciate Mike for helping us with the last move and Janet for keeping Princess for us.
